In the 1990's I met Doug Von Koss, a friend and mentor to my oldest son. He became excited about my work and wanted to contribute some pieces from his travels. He gave me a jacket he had purchased in the orient in the 1950's from an antique shop. The jacket was covered with embroidery and many other beautiful details. A work of art in itself; I had put it aside not knowing just how to use it.
Many years later, I was invited to attend a special birthday celebration for Doug and wanted to give a special gift in gratitude for all he had given to my son. I took the jacket and created what you see a tapestry entitled "Gratitude."
This tapestry is hung in the art collection of Doub Von Koss, San Francisco, CA. |
